About 40 km from Munich via A96. Herrsching, Schondorf, and Diessen am Ammersee are the main fishing spots. Historic steamship service since 1879.

Bavaria's sixth-largest lake (~47 km²). Home to an endemic whitefish species and one of seven key Bavarian aquatic habitats. Pike, pikeperch, carp, perch, bream, and barbel are found here.
