The lake is located in Corrèze department, about 45 km from the town of Brive-la-Gaillarde. A local AAPPMA permit is required for fishing.

Lac de Marcillac-la-Croisille, also known as L'Aigle, has been operating since 1945 and is located in an alpine environment. The water of the lake is clear, and common French freshwater fish species can be found in the area.
