Maconka has been part of the city of Bátonyterenye since 1984 in present-day Nógrád County. Before the 1950 county reorganization, the settlement was a small municipality in the Pétervásárai district of Heves County. Following the 1950 county reorganization, it became part of Nógrád County. In 1965, it was annexed to the neighboring Nagybátony, which together with Szúpatak and Kisterenye forms the city. The settlement is located on Road 2409.
