Slovakia's largest lake — a 35.2 km² reservoir in the Danube-Orava system, in the country's northernmost corner near the Polish border. Built between 1941 and 1953, with an average depth of 15 m. Slanický ostrov island features a museum and the remains of a church. Brown trout, carp, pike, and pikeperch are found here.
